Penny Bushong

Before I could walk, I was strapped to my mom's waist on the back of a horse as we worked or gathered cows. As I grew older, I acquired a true love for horses and used this on the family ranch and showing. Everyone always commented that I had a quiet mannerism and understanding with horses. Because of my eagerness to learn and dedication to make horses part of my career, I began looking for a college that offered a horse program. In my senior year in high school, my agriculture teacher received literature on Meredith Manor. In the summer of 1997 my mom and I flew back east to tour the campus. No frills or fancy but enthusiasm and dedication. It was great! I enrolled in the Fall Quarter and am proud to be completing my Riding Mater VI in February. I have been offered several jobs with trainers in my hometown, and will finish my education at UNR.
